Top 7 Texas Hold Em Poker Tips For Intermediate Players

Our Top 7 Texas Hold Em Poker Tips for beginners was such a huge hit that we decided to create a Top 7 Texas Hold Em Poker Tips for intermediate players.

Here is our list with more winning poker tips revealed:

Poker Tip #1 – Be Aggressive

There is one thing that all the great poker players have in common – they play aggressive poker.

They may play a tight style or a loose style, but no matter what the style, when they play, they know that aggressive poker is the way to win.

When you have the best hand, you need to bet it to protect your hand from draws and to maximize your payout.

When you have a draw and the pot is checked to you, you need to bet it since you have a chance to win the pot right there with only a draw, and if called, or raised, you have a chance to win the pot if your draw connects.

By betting you take control of the game and put your opponents on the defense.

Poker Tip #2 – Know the Odds

To improve your poker game and take it to the next level, you need to have a good understanding of the odds for various drawing hands that you may have.

If you understand Texas Hold Em poker odds you then know if to call or fold with your flush draws, straight draws, open-ended straight draws and gut-shot draws.

Over the long run, playing with the correct odds on your side will greatly increase your profitability.

Poker Tip #3 – Loose Players And Good Players On Your Right

You want the loose players and/or the good players to be on your right.

Loose players play too many hands and are a great source of profit in poker.  You want to act after them in order to take full advantage of them being in too many pots and throwing away too much money.

If you get to act after them, then you are in a good position to go heads up against them, by raising and driving other players out from behind, and get your hands on their chips.

Also if the good players have to act before you, you will have a positional advantage over them. If they bet or raise before you they have now provided you with some information about the hand that they hold.

You can use this information to reduce the threat they pose as a good, solid player.

Poker Tip #4 – Tight Players on Your Left

Tight players seldom enter pots.

This means that if they act after you, they will generally fold anyway so you don’t have to worry too much about them seeing what you do first.

If a tight player enters the pot or raises after you, he most likely has a good hand. Most of the time you should believe his raise and fold when the action reaches you.

This is much less dangerous than a loose or good player who could raise you with anything and make you have to guess when you are at a positional disadvantage.

When a tight player raises, you should know what they have!

Poker Tip #5 – Find the Fish at the Table

There is a popular poker saying that says it all: “If you don’t know who the fish at the table is, then it’s you”.

You want to figure out who the bad players at your table are, as this is where the vast majority of your money will come from.

If there are no fish at the poker table, it will not be as profitable and that makes it harder for you to win.

The fish can normally be spotted as the players who play too many hands, try too many bluffs, and bet too often with bad hands.

Poker Tip #6 – Table Selection

With online poker there are thousands of games going on all the time.  You want to make sure you sit down at a game with lots of fish, and loose, passive players to improve your chances of winning money.

Beating good poker players may make you feel good, but it won’t win you as much money as cleaning up the fish for stack after stack of cash.

We like making lots and lots of easy money and recommend you do too.

Make sure you look around online to find the fishiest tables before taking a seat.

Poker Tip #7 – Pay Attention

To take your poker game to the next level it is very important that you pay attention at the table.

You need to know what players are the loose players, the tight players, the good players and the fish.

Paying attention at the table helps you figure out which players you need to target for the easy money and which players you should avoid tangling with.

Paying attention is especially important in big hands and tough situations.

For example, if you have JJ and you raise pre-flop and you get re-raised, what do you do?

Do you know what that player has raised with earlier in the game?

Well, unless you have been paying attention, it is a guessing game.  If you have been paying attention, it becomes a lot easier.

If the re-raise comes from a very tight player, well it is pretty safe to assume that your hand is beat.  If the re-raise comes from a loose player, well, he could be re-raising you with a lot less than JJ and it may make sense for you to re-raise him back!

That’s why you need to pay close attention and figure out your opponents’ style of play.
